How Can We Help?

MEES Advice / Survey

Our MEES survey offers advice to landlords who are struggling to achieve existing (E grade) or projected (C grade potentially from 2025) MEES targets for rentals. This service is also beneficial to those who wish to improve the efficiency of the property or portfolio for their tenants. Our surveyor can provide economical or best possible grade improvements based on EPC data we have collected on-site. You will be able to work with our specialist team to adapt and switch the recommendations, whilst still achieving the desired EPC grade.

Carbon Reduction Advice / Survey

The carbon reduction survey offers advice to homeowners and landlords who would like to make improvements in line with the government net zero targets for 2050. We can help by providing advice on how changes will affect your EPC grade and what measures you would need to complete alongside the fuel switch to ensure a high grade.

Private Rented Sector (PRS) Exemption Process

For properties that are unable to reach MEES our energy team can assist you in navigating the exemption process. Improvements may need to be made before applying for an exemption, but our team can take you through the options to enable you to let the property as quickly as possible. An exemption is valid for five years but is linked to the property and landlord, therefore if the property is sold the new owner would have to obtain a new exemption or carry out improvements to continue to rent.

Retrofit Assessments

The retro-fit assessment is an in-depth analysis of the occupancy, energy usage and condition of a property. This is a wide-ranging assessment and includes factors such as building construction, structure and features, whilst also considering the condition, including defects and issues such as leaks, condensation and mould. Our assessors are fully certified and TRUSTMARK registered.

Retro fit assessments are an essential part of any domestic retrofit project in order to comply with PAS 2035. The PAS 2035 specification for ‘whole house’ or ‘whole building’ retrofit is an approach to the installation of energy efficiency measures (EEMs).

Non-domestic EPCs

All commercial buildings require an EPC when the property is sold, let or built, which is valid for ten years from the date of issue. Some exemptions apply for listed properties, places of worship and temporary buildings. The EPC rates how energy efficient your building is using grades from A to G (with ‘A’ the most efficient grade) and also provides energy efficiency improvement recommendations.

With the ever-growing demand for greener building and improved efficiency, MEES regulations for rental are becoming more stringent and it is therefore important that building owners have a clear picture of their property’s current score in order to plan improvement works for the future.

domestic EPCs

As energy costs continue to escalate along with an ever-growing awareness of climate change, there is an increasing interest in understanding the energy performance of a property.

All properties sold or let in the UK are legally obliged to have a valid EPC (with a few exceptions, including some listed buildings and detached buildings of less than 50sqm).

An up-to-date EPC enables homeowners and landlords to have a current picture of their property’s performance. Our consultancy team can then assist you with tailored improvement recommendations to improve the score.
